Photographing a wedding at the Waterton Park Hotel, Wakefield, West Yorkshire

The Wedding of Tom and Art
Photographer: Andrew (full day, one wedding photographer)
Location: Waterton Park Hotel, Wakefield, West Yorkshire,
Tom and Art contacted me on the recommendation of his parents, I think. They had been photography lesson clients, and we had got to know each other pretty well. Wakefield is a long way up the country for this Bromley wedding photographer, but the Waterton Park Hotel is a fave venue for my daughter’s wedding cake business, and I was really glad to have the chance to photograph a wedding there. On top of that, as Sarah and I were already booked to photograph another northern wedding the next day, travel made sense too.
So I hadn’t actually met Tom and Art in person before their wedding day. We had had a zoom call, made the booking, and then met on the day. From the moment I started photographing Art at the end of bride’s preparations I knew that she had been a model – a natural ease and grace in front of the camera that can’t be faked.
A favourite shot? There were many, but perhaps this one out of a sequence as the day drew into the golden hour.
The Waterton Park Hotel ranks very high amongst the wedding venues where I have worked. It is amply worth the drive up from Bromley! A classic country house with a full moat and historic iron bridge, the food was great, the surroundings lovely and the organisation and service amongst the very best.
So the venue was fantastic, the weather was superb, the bridesmaids were beautiful, everyone had a great time and it was an honour to photograph the occasion!
Thank you, Tom and Art, for making me your wedding photographer!
