Youth and beauty and overwhelming joy at a Surrey Wedding
Ollie and Sam’s wedding was a joy to photograph. I was struck on our Zoom call, and even more in real life, by the youthfulness, beauty and vibrance of this couple. In a good year for me as a a wedding photographer, I think they were my youngest clients. They and their friends all seemed to be about 20 and extremely physically fit. Sam has one of those faces which seem to convey a range of expressions while being consistently beautiful, and Ollie just looked constantly extremely glad to be there! Photographing them was certainly not difficult.
Holy Trinity Church in Wallington happens to be the church that my primary school was linked with, so I knew the place well. A lively church with a strong congregation, Ollie and Sam had direct links with the church. The vicar and other members made everyone very welcome – a great venue for a wedding. After the service the couple left the church and then reentered – leaving a second time to pass under a ‘confetti arch’ outside. We did some group shots and a few portraits at the church before heading off to Chipstead Gold Club for the reception.
Chipstead Golf Club is a lovely Surrey wedding reception venue. I worked with bride and groom for their portraits in a little wood alongside the club house before we returned for the reception and dance – a relaxed and joyous time for the two large and local families.
Aside from being my own home turf, Wallington and Chipstead are no significant distance from Bromley. I may be a Kent wedding photographer, but I would rather photograph a wedding in Banstead, Surrey than in Dover when it comes to distance!

Ollie and Sam contacted me via Facebook initially – I think it was Sam’s dad who found me through the Wallington group. I had a Zoom call with the bride and groom which firmed up the booking, followed up by my usual wedding photography booking letter and clients’ deposit paid. I am glad that we also managed to meet at the church a few weeks before the big day.
