Jean Noël and Alan contacted me only a month or two before their big day. I don’t think that the wedding was at all last minute, but the development of it was. I think that a sister had said, “But you must have all your friends…”,  “But you must have a proper reception…” and “… but you must have a professional wedding photographer!” And so their simple ceremony as scheduled at Southwark Register Office evolved into a big affair and I was booked.

As it happened, we moved from Camberwell to Bromley in between the booking and the ceremony but it really is only 20 minutes on the train. And this Bromley wedding photographer is still very much a Southwark wedding photographer at heart, so only too glad to make the trip!

I am very used to the Southwark Registry Office but Brunswick House in Vauxhall was something else. Alan said it offered “faded-grandeur – just like us!” The place is superb – a nugget of Georgian splendour tucked beside one of London’s busiest roundabouts, surrounded by steel and glass high-rises. Most of the fixtures and fittings are for sale – real and reproduction furniture, door knobs, artworks… even fireplaces. It was a fantastic venue and the couple and their guests (and their wedding photographer!) were really well looked-after.
