Well, that was a glorious wedding!
I hadn’t remembered Sophia as a natural redhead. Perhaps she isn’t! But rich auburn totally suits her, and what she did with the colour scheme at her wedding just blew me away. Like several other recent weddings, the bridesmaids chose their own dresses from a colour palette running from yellow ochre to russet, and the effect was extraordinary. From the moment that bride and (many) maids got out of the cars, I knew that this was going to be a wedding to remember.
Groom and groomsmen also had free rein with ties and accessories. Richard’s jacket was perfect and much admired.
The sun shone in a really glorious, non-sweltering way. The reception was at a gorgeous barn in the countryside. We stopped in a field for photos and then Richard and Sophia just walked over the hill and down to the barn. Cows lowed, children and adults ate ripe cherries straight from the tree and it was the most beautiful evening ever.
The couple were kind enough to write a card after the wedding: Thank you so much for the phenomenal job you did with our wedding photos – we are so thankful to have stuch a stunning record of our day and grateful for the way in which you worked.

How Richard and Sophia booked me: Sophia contacted me having met me briefly and seen me work at two previous Coventry weddings, back when we lived in Camberwell. Negotiations and booking were done with the couple by Zoom. I didn’t meet Richard until their big day, but that is not unusual. They had seen me work, and looked at my portfolio, and seemd very happy to book me as their wedding photographer. So on Saturday 1st July 23 I made the drive from Bromley, Kent, up to Coventry, Warwickshire. I stayed with friends in Coventry the night after the wedding.
