Tierney and Yan Wan found me on Google and booked me after some exchanges of emails and a phone call. We also met to talk over the wedding at one of the venues – Pedro’s – where I had the privilege of also helping them choose the wines for their celebration!
A two-venue wedding with two short shoots on two days was a first for me, but a great experience. Both shoots were genuinely short, especially the ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall, but between the two events there was a lot of material to work with and I delivered over 500 edits.
I think that the magic in this wedding came very much from the couple themselves, and then from so many charming relatives and friends. It was a lovely, intimate, genuinely joyful occasion – you could feel the love!
A favourite shot? I think probably one of the wide angle confetti shots taken at Chelsea Town Hall.
Chelsea Old Town Hall is, of course, one of London’s most famous wedding venues, and definitely on the bucket list for any wedding photographer. It really is a great place to photograph, inside and out, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and fun, while being totally professional. The flowers around those steps on the way out!
Pedro’s was also a great venue. As a Portugal fan – language, food and wine, not football! – I was very much at home here and I thought they did a great job for this lovely bride and groom.
I always feel that my job is to feel and communicate the attraction and bond that the couple share. In a sense a wedding photographer has to fall in love with them a bit. This wasn’t hard with Tierney and Yan Wan!
