Website work using my interior photography

It has been a busy year – hence the lack of website work and blogging! I have had a good number of weddings, lots of commercial, interior photography and personal work, and one huge website project, for my regular employer, Affordable Granite.

A big decision at Affordable Granite last year was to develop the “business to business” side of the company’s offering. Trading as AG Stoneworks, the aim is to speak directly to kitchen designers, architects and high end developers.

The main platform for AG Stoneworks is a new website, and this year we have put considerable time and effort into developing a very visual, really beautiful site which can show off the best of our design and craftsmanship.

One of the most carefully planned and executed kitchens I have ever photographed – in Outwood, Surrey

Working with Georgina Hart

We looked at a large number of kitchen websites, and many others, including some from wholly unrelated industries. We also looked at the output of a number of different web developers. In the end it was actually an old family friend, Georgina Hart, who got the job of site development.

Georgina really “got” what we were looking for in the new AG Stoneworks brand. A clean, sophisticated look, very interior photography heavy, with an emphasis on aspiration and inspiration. Right from the start her ideas chimed with ours and I knew that the collaboration was going to work. It has been a pleasure working with her.

Georgina is a fine photographer herself, still relatively new to the industry. I have worked with her on shoots, passing on some of the technical aspects of our craft. Technical stuff can be taught and learned, but in terms of her intrinsic gift and creative eye, she has already got all that a professional photographer needs!

The initial vision for the website began with Naomi, our sales manager, and then became very much a team thing. But one member has been the driving force in working with Georgina to make that vision a reality. Cassie’s background in the fashion industry came to the fore on this project. She always has tremendous drive and focus, and that has really been needed to get the job done and done well. She has been like a (pretty kind!) rottweiler, chasing everything through with the kind of attention to detail and visual perfectionism which we really needed. I am pleased and proud to have worked alongside.

My own kitchen photography

Over the years I have photographed many kitchens for Affordable Granite. I guess its part of the wider discipline of “interior photography.” Some kitchens have been very large and impressive, some have illustrated particular techniques or materials, and others have been relatively “ordinary”, demonstrating that solid stone worktops really are affordable. For the AG Stoneworks site we wanted some fresh material, and it needed to be both “aspirational and inspirational”. So, in the last few months, I have worked in a number of homes where we have recently installed worktops, and three kitchens especially stand out as some of the most beautiful and desirable I have seen. Here is a selection of images from those shoots.

And so the site is launched! As with all such things we are still ironing out the last few wrinkles, but we are pleased and proud of how it looks and functions. Pop over to AG Stoneworks to take a look.

I feel hugely satisfied with my involvement. I am not a specialist in interior photography, but I think I know how to work to a brief on this kind of thing. And I am affordable – really high-end interiors people have heavy invoices! So if you need one-off images of your home, or of your crafstmanship, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I will be glad to help if I possibly can. I am based in Bromley, but happy to travel, and love a challenge like this!
