Family photography often works best far from the artificial environment of a studio, with the family just having fun, doing things that they would enjoy anyway. It is a real privilege to tag along with my camera on a family’s day out. For Julia’s birthday, she asked me to accompany her and her girls on a day trip out from Crawley to Brighton. A long stroll on the pier, taking a few rides and relaxing in between, followed by lunch in Browns Restaurant – it all made for a great day of photography. Browns in Brighton has particularly pleasant lighting – skylights filtering natural light down into the back of the restaurant, where we chose our table with care. A really enjoyable day, with plenty of time for my three clients to relax and be themselves.
